CRES Statement on Department of Energy Study Examining Electricity Markets and Reliability

May 18, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Managing Director Heather Reams released the following statement regarding the Department of Energy’s “Study Examining Electricity Markets and Reliability.”

“As a former Governor with a record of supporting reliable wind energy, Secretary Perry understands better than most the innovative approaches to advanced energy acquisition, technology and storage that many states have embraced across the country. Now is the time for the federal government to follow the successes states across America have had with policies that are grounded in a truly ‘all of the above’ approach, including reliable clean energy solutions such as wind, solar, nuclear, hydropower, and natural gas,” said Reams.

“These clean and abundant resources are proven drivers of economic growth and job creation, and have made tremendous progress in diversifying the nation’s energy system, increasing competition and creating savings for consumers. CRES encourages the Department of Energy’s study to thoroughly analyze and include lessons learned by grid operators and industry leaders that maximize domestic energy reliability, development and affordability.”
