CRES Statement on Senate Subcommittee Mark-Up of FY2018 Energy and Water Appropriations Bill

July 18, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Managing Director Heather Reams released the following statement regarding Tuesday’s U.S. Senate Subcommittee mark-up of the FY2018 Energy and Water Development Appropriations bill.

“Today, the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee advanced sensible clean energy solutions that will drive innovation, strengthen national security and create good-paying jobs,” said Reams. “CRES applauds Chairman Lamar Alexander for his leadership in allocating $330 million in funding for the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA-E), as well as securing record funding levels for other advanced energy research programs. ARPA-E and its breakthrough research are essential to our nation’s competitive edge when it comes to developing efficient energy technologies and diversifying energy sources. As the Senate Energy and Water Appropriations Bill moves to a full committee mark-up later this week, CRES urges Senate Republicans to continue their support for clean energy research funding through ARPA-E.”
