Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) President Heather Reams issued the following statement following Rep. Frank Lucas’ victory in Oklahoma’s U.S. House District 3 Republican primary election:
“CRES was proud to endorse Rep. Frank Lucas because he is a longstanding advocate for clean energy innovation. As the Republican Leader of the U.S. House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, Rep. Lucas has advanced legislation to improve America’s competitiveness through research, development, and deployment of next-generation energy technologies. In October 2021, Rep. Lucas was named a CRES Clean Energy Champion for his work to advance American energy independence and domestic research and production.”
In May, CRES endorsed Rep. Lucas for his support of commonsense climate legislation including the bipartisan Trillion Trees Act, the 2021 National Clean Energy Week resolution, and the Growing Climate Solutions Act, which will make carbon markets as accessible as commodity markets for Oklahoma’s farmers and foresters when they help remove CO2 from our atmosphere.
Rep. Lucas was essential to passing the Energy Act of 2020—the most comprehensive U.S. energy policy in over a decade—and the groundwork for America’s clean energy future. Last year, he co-sponsored the Promoting Cross-Border Energy Infrastructure Act, which seeks to promote cooperation, collaboration, and trade with Canada and Mexico to expand energy infrastructure across North America, and create an alliance with our closest allies to foster American energy independence. Rep. Lucas also helped advance the Department of Energy Science for the Future Act to increase funding for storage, solar, hydrogen, critical minerals, fusion energy, and carbon removal research by seven percent each year over the next five years.
