WASHINGTON – Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) today applauded the U.S. House passage of Rep. John Curtis’ (R-Utah) H.R. 7370, the Geothermal Energy Opportunity (GEO) Act, and Rep. Michelle Steel’s (R-Calif.) H.R. 6474. Both pieces of legislation are aimed at expediting and removing barriers to the advancement of geothermal technologies.
“Removing unnecessary barriers to the development of renewable geothermal energy provides yet another exciting opportunity to strengthen our all-of-the-above energy portfolio,” said CRES President Heather Reams about the GEO Act. “Thank you to Rep. Curtis for leading the Geothermal Energy Optimization (GEO) Act and recognizing the potential geothermal energy offers.”
“An all-of-the-above energy approach that reduces global emissions includes geothermal energy, and expediting its development on federal lands is important to adding more reliable, affordable and renewable energy to our grid,” said CRES President Heather Reams about Rep. Steel’s bill. “Cutting unnecessary red tape that delays geothermal projects will create good-paying jobs and expand our clean energy supply, and I thank Rep. Steel for leading this charge towards the expansion of geothermal technologies.”
