CRES Applauds Gov. Brian Sandoval for Signing Legislation that Promotes Solar Expansion in Nevada

Legislation will grow local jobs, bolster the economy and expand renewable energy development

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Managing Director Heather Reams released the following statement applauding Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval for signing Assembly Bill 405 into law.

“CRES applauds Governor Sandoval for signing Assembly Bill 405, bipartisan legislation that will promote critical solar expansion and bring affordable clean energy solutions to families and businesses across Nevada. Thanks to Governor Sandoval’s leadership to prioritize commonsense investments in solar energy, Nevada can continue its strong record of success when it comes to advancing innovative, renewable energy technology that unleashes economic growth, spurs local job creation, and preserves our natural environment.”

AB 405 incorporates a discounted rate for energy that is sent to the grid, allowing all state homeowners with rooftop solar to get credit when they export electricity back to their utility. The legislation will help to foster local job creation by spurring increased demand for solar.
