CRES Announces New Vice President and Communications Team at start of 118th Congress

WASHINGTON — Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) announced Evan Dixon, who joined CRES in 2021, has been promoted to serve as vice president of communications, and Elizabeth (Liz) Daniels, previously communications director for the Congressional Western Caucus, joined CRES as the new senior communications director. Liz’s hiring follows the recent staff additions of Benjamin Sumner, communications & digital associate, and Alexander Diaz, communications coordinator.

“I am delighted to announce our stellar communications team for the 118th Congress and to welcome Liz to CRES,” said Heather Reams, CRES President. “Liz’s experience with Western Caucus Chairman Dan Newhouse (Wash.-04) to develop and implement an energy agenda will be an asset to our efforts to promote clean energy innovation and American energy independence. With this team, I am confident CRES will continue to play a vital role in messaging and advancing conservative energy and climate priorities.”

“I am honored to lead such a talented team we have assembled here at CRES,” said Evan Dixon. “As Republicans take back control of the U.S. House, our team has the opportunity to help advance pivotal legislation and expand CRES’ grassroots efforts across America. I’m excited to work alongside Liz, Benjamin and Alex to do just that.”

“I’m thrilled to join this incredible team and help expand CRES’ influence in the clean energy space,” said Elizabeth Daniels. “I am looking forward to collaborating and making an impact on conservative energy policy, and I am excited to continue promoting American energy leadership and global solutions with this amazing group of communicators and advocates.”

From 2015 to 2022, Daniels worked for Rep. Newhouse as a District Representative, Legislative Assistant, and Communications Director. Most recently, she served as Communications Director for the Congressional Western Caucus under Chairman Newhouse where she cultivated Member relations, implemented messaging initiatives and programming for staff, and worked to advance the energy, water, agriculture, and lands priorities of the membership.

Sumner joins CRES from the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), supporting the digital team as the Email and P2P Coordinator during the 2022 cycle. Upon graduation from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), where he majored in Political Science, Sumner began his career in Washington D.C. on Capitol Hill as an intern for former U.S. Representative Phil Roe (Tenn.-01).

Diaz is a junior at the Catholic University of America, where he serves as the Communications Director for Catholic University’s chapter of the Young Americans for Freedom, and Vice President of the American Conservation Coalition.

As Vice President, Dixon will lead the communications team and continue working to increase awareness of conservative climate and clean energy solutions across the United States.
