Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions Statement on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act

November 6, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Managing Director Heather Reams issued the following statement regarding HR 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions congratulates Chairman Kevin Brady, House Republican Leadership, and Members of the Ways and Means Committee for introducing comprehensive tax reform legislation. CRES applauds the provisions that support the clean energy sector including the expansion of the investment tax credit to other clean energy sources and the reduction of the corporate income tax to a low not seen in a generation,” said Reams.

“However, because CRES is committed to policies that assure stability in the clean energy market, we are concerned about the changes to the Production Tax Credit that would negatively affect the wind industry and its access to financial capital. To this end, we urge the House Ways & Means Committee to retain the provisions of the 2015 PATH Act that provide for business certainty for this critical sector. CRES looks forward to working with Congress on policies that offer long-term growth and continued success of the clean energy sector.”
