Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions Launches Clean Energy Forward Campaign to Spur Job Growth and Revive Economy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES), a conservative organization advancing clean energy policies, announced the launch of a major advertising and promotional campaign advocating for clean energy jobs to be a centerpiece of the United States’ economic recovery from COVID-19.

Backed by an initial $250,000 digital buy, Clean Energy Forward (http://www.cleanenergyforward.com/) aims to secure critical jobs, promote future economic growth, and continue efforts to reduce emissions at the lowest cost to the American taxpayer. The national Clean Energy Forward campaign will highlight the value of investments in clean energy to Republican members of Congress who have championed commonsense clean energy policies and will recognize the importance of these policies in reviving the economy and getting Americans back to work.

The campaign comes on the heels of CRES’ call on Congress to prioritize clean energy in stabilizing the economy and securing jobs. Clean Energy Forward will focus on Republicans in part because the majority of renewable energy in the country is produced in states President Trump carried in 2016.

“Over the past decade, the United States has been able to both grow its economy and reduce carbon emissions, and that is thanks to an ‘all-of-the-above’ energy strategy that embraces clean energy jobs,” said CRES Executive Director Heather Reams. “With hard-working Americans needing good jobs, the clean energy sector will be critical to our economic recovery and long-term success.”

Every state and district in the country benefits from the clean energy sector, which was among the fastest growing over the past decade. Clean energy accounted for more than 40% of America’s entire energy workforce in 2019, and one in five construction workers is employed in clean energy, according to the e2 2020 Clean Jobs America Report. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects clean energy to be on track to continue that growth over the next decade. Wind turbine installers and solar panel installers are anticipated to be the two fastest-growing job categories in the United States by 2028.

This promise comes as more than 30 million Americans have filed for unemployment in the past six weeks according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

“Simply put, a strong, free-market economy and support for clean energy go hand-in-hand to restore the economy and create innovative jobs in every state and at every skill level,” Reams added. “While providing both economic security and national security, American-made clean energy will safeguard the U.S. economy, innovation and our energy independence.”
