Dear Senators Alexander and Van Hollen:
On behalf of Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) I am writing in support of S. 2714, your legislation to reauthorize the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E). CRES has been a strong supporter of this program and is proud to support this bipartisan legislation.
ARPA-E takes an innovative approach to funding transformative, early stage energy research in support of American energy security and economic competitiveness. It has been a successful program to date, leveraging more than $2 billion in private sector follow-on funding, and a significant number of projects forming new companies and creating jobs. However, the current funding levels for ARPA-E can only support one percent of proposals. The increased authorization levels in this legislation will provide support to increase the number of quality proposals that receive funding.
Thank you again for your leadership, and we look forward to working with you to pass this legislation. For additional information, please contact CRES VP of Government Relations, Brandon Audap at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Heather Reams
Executive Director
