As a political conservative, I was proud to see Republican Gov. Charlie Baker feature clean energy prominently in his State of the Commonwealth address. I was pleased to hear that Massachusetts is pursuing the development of additional offshore wind energy and new energy storage technologies.
Clean energy is an issue that has gained increasing support from conservative voters.
Our state has drafted the blueprint for the rest of the country. As the governor noted in his speech, thanks to the largest renewable energy procurement in the state’s history, clean energy pricing is now competitive with carbon-emitting fossil fuels. The cost savings, job creation, and security these resources provide should appeal to all voters regardless of ideology.
I thank Governor Baker for his leadership on this important issue.
