Rep. Mike Coffman (CO-6) was a recent recipient of the 2018 U.S. Wind Champion Award for the 115th Congress, thanks to our friends at the American Wind Energy Association. This well-deserved recognition came as a result of Rep. Coffman’s “support for the 6,000 Coloradan wind workers and his clear vision for U.S. leadership in wind power recognized on the heels of American Wind Week.
CRES proudly endorsed Rep. Coffman’s re-election bid for U.S. House in Colorado’s 6th District. Due to Rep. Coffman’s strong support for Colorado’s renewables industry, he has become a Republican leader in the fight for a clean energy future, and we believe that Rep. Coffman should be re-elected so he can continue his fight for the betterment of our great nation.
Colorado’s wind power industry has skyrocketed during the last decade. From 2005 to 20016, the wind energy generated by the state rose from a modest 1.5 percent to a staggering 17.3 percent. The Centennial State has become a national leader in wind power generation. In 2016, Colorado produced over 4 percent of the total wind generation in the country.
As Colorado continues to rise as a national wind power innovator, Rep. Coffman will safeguard state wind initiatives by working towards commonsense policy that benefits all Coloradans. We believe that Rep. Coffman is the best choice for Colorado’s 6th District, and we congratulate him for his invaluable work in Colorado’s wind industry.
