CRES Statement on H.R. 3593, the Department of Energy Science for the Future Act

“The bipartisan approval by the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology to reauthorize the Office of Science is a win for Americans and a win for the environment. The bipartisan bill boasts a 7 percent increase in research funding each year over the next five years and tackles climate change by boosting funding for advanced research in areas including storage, solar, hydrogen, critical minerals, fusion energy, and carbon removal. With the strong leadership of Ranking Member Frank Lucas and Chairwoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, I hope the full House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate quickly consider this legislation so it can be signed into law and send record funding levels to United States’ secret weapon—our 17 national laboratories that have the extraordinary capacity for basic science and energy research.”
