As the conference committee meets to reconcile H.R. 5895, the FY19 Minibus Appropriations bill, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) respectfully requests support for the following offices and programs within the U.S. Department of Education:
CRES supports the Senate funding level for ARPA-E: $375 million
The Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) program is critical to maintaining America’s global leadership in the development of new energy technologies. ARPA-E supports research that has the potential to drastically alter how the United States generates and consumes energy.
CRES supports the Senate funding level for EERE: $2,322,000,000.
CRES strongly supports the work of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable, which invests in critical research and development in renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.
CRES also supports the use of EERE funds for all stages of research and development, including support for medium and later-state R&D, deployment and demonstration activities, and other approaches that utilize the most effective means to increase buildings’ energy efficiency in order to promote their affordability, sustainability, resilience, and productivity.
CRES supports the House funding levels for Resilient Distribution Systems ($48 million) and Energy Storage ($51 million)
Grid modernization and reliability is a key priority for American consumers; CRES supports investment in the development of innovative technologies, tools and techniques to modernize the transmission system.
