WASHINGTON (July 1, 2020) – Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES), an organization advancing right-of-center clean energy policies, announced the launch of a new advertising campaign to applaud the conservative leadership of Senators Mike Braun (R-IN) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) for introducing the Growing Climate Solutions Act of 2020. The bipartisan legislation, introduced in early June, will help solve technical entry barriers to farmer and forest landowner participation in carbon credit markets.
Backed by a 10-day, $250,000 spend, the ads will run on television and radio and across online platforms in Indiana and South Carolina, predominantly. The advertising aims to raise awareness of the efforts by these two Republican lawmakers to strengthen our nation’s agricultural economy through climate-friendly policies. The first ads will hit airwaves in the two states over the July 4th weekend.
“Senators Braun and Graham are to be commended for putting forth practical, free-market solutions that support a clean, healthy environment while creating new economic opportunities for hard-working American farmers,” said Heather Reams, executive director of CRES. “Republican voters want clean energy and realistic climate solutions, and they recognize the need for conservative leadership on these issues. In fact, a recent CRES survey found that 74% of Republican voters support providing financial incentives that lower the cost of capturing carbon. As one of those Republican voters, I want to thank Senators Braun and Graham for championing the Growing Climate Solutions Act of 2020 and for their commitment to innovative climate policy that boosts the economy and protects our environment.”
CRES has been a dedicated advocate for thoughtful, limited government policies that reduce and sequester greenhouse gases, as the Growing Climate Solutions Act of 2020 does. In September 2018, CRES was the first to introduce the voluntary framework to address climate change – a model included in Senator Braun and Graham’s bill. The Growing Climate Solutions Act of 2020 will decrease emissions and the costs associated with achieving climate goals and grow the market for clean energy and climate solutions.
