CRES Statement on Passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in U.S. House

November 16, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Managing Director Heather Reams issued the following statement regarding the passage of HR 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Comprehensive tax reform is long overdue, and Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions applauds Speaker Ryan, Chairman Brady and House Republicans for taking the next step in a process meant to provide American workers, businesses and consumers with lower taxes and a stronger economy. We are especially encouraged by the tax provisions that will spur investments in the clean energy sector, including the expansion of the investment tax credit and the reduction of the corporate income tax to a level not seen in more than a generation,” said Reams.

“Despite this progress, we remain concerned about modifications to the Production Tax Credit that would negatively impact the growth we have witnessed from the wind industry and its access to financial capital. As the process moves forward, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions urges Congress to retain the provisions of the 2015 PATH Act that ensure business certainty for this critical sector, and we look forward to continuing our work with members of the House and Senate to increase support of policies that encourage long-term growth and continued success of the clean energy industry.”
