CRES Statement on U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Rick Perry

OCTOBER 17, 2019 – WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Executive Director Heather Reams released the following statement after U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Rick Perry announced his resignation.

“Secretary Rick Perry has been a tremendous champion of unleashing our country’s clean energy potential,” said Heather Reams, executive director of Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions. “During his time in state and federal government, Secretary Perry oversaw the wind energy boom in Texas and expanded the U.S. energy agenda beyond promoting fossil fuels. His work to advance clean energy infrastructure and research has helped make both America and the state of Texas leaders in clean energy development. Secretary Perry also defended the Department of Energy’s advanced energy research agency from budget cuts, boosted research into battery storage, solar power, and artificial intelligence, and established a new cybersecurity office. We are thankful for his stewardship, commitment, and partnership alongside advocates in the clean energy space.”
