WASHINGTON, D.C. – Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Executive Director Heather Reams issued the statement below following Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s comments on today’s Senate Green New Deal cloture vote.

“The fact that Republicans acknowledge climate change should surprise no one. However, this does not mean that Republicans are prepared to blindly follow Democrats down a road of more regulation, government intrusion, and flawed policies that will destroy jobs, restrain our national economy, and raise costs for American families. Republicans will address climate change by advancing a conservative, clean energy vision that harnesses the power of the free market and innovation to further emission reductions and allow industry to move swiftly without drowning future generations in national debt and tax increases. CRES looks forward to working with Congress on actionable, commonsense policies that balance our nation’s economic and environmental needs.”
