CRES Statement on National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Reform Legislation

“The reduction of red tape is a bedrock conservative principle, and that includes steps for the approval of needed clean energy infrastructure projects. To that end, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions commends Congressman Rodney Davis (R-IL), as well as Senators James Lankford (R-OK), Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Tom Cotton (R-AR) for introducing legislation last week that prioritizes infrastructure investment by reforming the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and streamlining federal environmental review processes.

For too long, clean energy infrastructure projects have died a slow death at the hands of the federal government. President Trump’s ‘One Federal Decision’ Executive Order rectified this problem. This legislation codifies that vision and ensures that there are timely reviews for capital- and labor-intensive infrastructure projects. At a time when the country needs both infrastructure and business certainty, this commonsense legislation will benefit both clean energy businesses and consumers.” — Heather Reams, Executive Director, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions
