WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Executive Director Heather Reams released the following statement regarding CRES’s joint letters to Members of Congress. CRES joined with a coalition of leading energy trade and advocacy groups to support the inclusion of the Energy Storage Tax Incentive and Deployment Act (H.R. 2096) in any tax extenders legislation. The bill would ensure a level playing field for energy storage as a standalone asset to compete with all other energy resources made eligible for Section 48 & 25D investment tax credits.
“Investments in energy storage technology are critical to growing our economy, maintaining U.S. global leadership and competitiveness, and expanding safe, reliable, and affordable energy for families across America,” said CRES Executive Director Heather Reams. “CRES is proud to partner with leading clean energy advocates to support the Energy Storage Tax Incentive and Deployment Act. Once enacted by Congress, this legislation would create jobs and spur greater investments inside the global market, while extending the benefits of energy storage deployment among a wider diversity of technologies and industries. As Members of Congress consider energy tax extenders legislation, CRES looks forward to continuing our work with clean energy champions to ensure ITC eligibility for energy storage is among the nearest-term opportunities to advance clean energy in the 116th Congress.”
