Statement: Kigali Amendment

June 13, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Managing Director Heather Reams released the following statement regarding the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol.

“Americans win when our policymakers balance solutions that grow our manufacturing sector and give U.S. businesses an advantage in the international marketplace, while also seizing upon technological innovation that protects the environment. The Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol is critical to environmental protection and will simultaneously strengthen America’s competitiveness and global leadership. Fulfilling the agreement is projected to increase U.S. manufacturing jobs by 33,000 and exports by $4.8 billion. CRES applauds the 13 Senate Republicans for their leadership in urging President Trump to send the Kigali Amendment to the Senate, and we look forward to continuing our work with the Administration and clean energy champions in Congress to ensure its swift ratification.”
