WASHINGTON – Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) President Heather Reams responded to House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ (R-Wash.) announcement that she will not seek reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Chair Rodgers has been a guiding force on the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee and a true clean energy champion—strengthening America’s energy sector and economy by promoting policies that advance clean energy technologies and reduce global emissions. Throughout her time in Congress, she has worked tirelessly to put Republicans at the decision-making table and spearheaded commonsense, conservative policies to address the world’s most pressing energy and climate challenges,” said CRES President Heather Reams. “Just a few months ago, Chair Rodgers facilitated the first ever Republican-led delegation to attend the U.N. Climate Change Conference (COP28), further demonstrating her commitment to environmental stewardship and addressing the global impacts of climate change. CRES thanks Chair Rodgers for her work—both on the Committee and on behalf of the people of Washington state.”

In 2017, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) was named a CRES Clean Energy Champion in recognition of her support for an all-of-the-above energy portfolio, including hydropower, nuclear energy and renewable resources.

Earlier this year, CRES endorsed Rep. McMorris Rodgers’ legislation, the Hydropower Clean Energy Future Act, to encourage and expand hydropower generation through innovation and licensing reform. Click HERE to read more.
