Statement: CRES on the FY18 Omnibus

March 22, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Managing Director Heather Reams released the following statement regarding the FY18 omnibus.

“CRES applauds Republican leadership – Speaker Paul Ryan, Leader Mitch McConnell, Senator Lamar Alexander and Congressman Mike Simpson – as the FY18 omnibus strengthens America’s competitiveness by investing in key programs and initiatives at the U.S. Department of Energy including Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) and the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). These programs foster clean energy and storage technology development, accelerate its commercialization and allow the U.S to maintain its global leadership and competitive edge.

“FY18 spending also prioritizes much-needed grid modernization and the cyber protection of this critical infrastructure through funding of the Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability, and sets a strong baseline for energy innovation and modernization funding for FY19 and beyond.

“Federal investments in clean energy, advanced technology and energy research represent critical elements of American ingenuity, innovation and global security that transcend political lines. These investments will lead to a safer and more secure energy future, helping to reduce our country’s dependence on foreign sources of energy and ensure continued economic growth while protecting our environment.”
