JULY 16, 2019 – WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Executive Director Heather Reams released the following statement after the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources approved a number of key bipartisan bills, including legislation aimed at advancing nuclear and hydroelectric energy, and carbon capture research.

“Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions commends the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee for approving this worthy package of clean energy bills that will promote American innovation and research,” said Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Executive Director Heather Reams. “The Committee’s strong, bipartisan approval of these measures symbolizes how Congress can find common ground on policies that address carbon capture research and our country’s nuclear and hydroelectric industries. We thank Chairman Lisa Murkowski for her leadership in pushing these measures through the Committee and urge the full Senate to take swift action.”

CRES continues to support several Republican-led bills passed by the panel today, including the Nuclear Energy Leadership (NELA) Act, the Reliable Investment in Vital Energy Reauthorization (RIVER) Act, the Launching Energy Advancement and Development through Innovations for Natural Gas (LEADING) Act, and the Small Scale LNG Access Act.
