CRES Applauds Passage of Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act

“Now more than ever, it is paramount the United States is empowered to do what we do best: produce clean, affordable and reliable energy while reducing global emissions.”
— CRES President Heather Reams

WASHINGTON – Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) today applauded the U.S. House passage of H.R. 7176, the Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act of 2024, by a bipartisan vote of 224-200. Led by Rep. August Pfluger (R-Texas), the CRES-endorsed bill’s passage is a response to the Biden Administration’s announcement to pause the consideration of new liquified natural gas (LNG) export terminals. CRES President Heather Reams issued the following statement of support:

“President Biden’s de facto ban on new U.S. liquified natural gas (LNG) export facilities will make it nearly impossible for American natural gas producers to displace dirtier energy sources around the globe,” said CRES President Heather Reams. “Now more than ever, it is paramount the United States is empowered to do what we do best: produce clean, affordable and reliable energy while reducing global emissions. The Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act cuts red tape and would allow American producers to continue to export our energy to allies around the world. Thank you to Representative Pfluger for taking the baton and leading this important legislation to reaffirm America’s global energy leadership.”

The Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act was passed earlier this Congress as part of H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, which CRES also endorsed. Learn more HERE.
