Recap: CRES’ Welcome Back to Congress Reception

To celebrate the start of the 119th Congress and the return of the Trump Administration to Washington, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) hosted a reception boasting more than 200 attendees, including eleven members of Congress, Sens. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and John Curtis (R-Utah) and Danielle Smith, the Premier of Alberta, Canada. The event focused on the importance of embracing an all-of-the-above approach as we advance America First energy policies.

CRES President Heather Reams kicked off the event with remarks congratulating new members, including Rep. Jeff Hurd (R-Colo.) and Julie Fedorchak (R-N.D.) who were in attendance, and welcoming familiar clean energy advocates including Reps. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.), Juan Ciscomani (R-Ariz.), John James (R-Mich.), Jen  Kiggans (R-Va.), Bob Latta (R-Ohio), Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.), Carol Miller (R-W.Va.), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa) and Tim Walberg (R-Mich.)

Reams continued the programming by highlighting the significant actions President Trump and his nominees, including Energy Secretary nominee Chris Wright and Interior Secretary nominee Doug Burgum, have already taken to demonstrate their commitment to growing American-made energy. Throughout their confirmation hearings, both Wright and Burgum have outlined the importance of embracing energy of all forms—including natural gas, nuclear, solar, geothermal, hydrogen and other forms of clean energy—to meet the needs of American families and the rapid growth of domestic manufacturing and data centers.

Following her remarks, Reams welcomed the Members in attendance to offer their thoughts on the future of American energy under the new Administration. Each was enthusiastically optimistic about the promise of advancing all-of-the-above policies and the undeniable economic benefits that are intertwined.

Sen. Tillis highlighted the potential economic consequences of rejecting an all-of-the-above approach and reflected on his time in the North Carolina state legislature as well as in the Senate where his efforts to advance clean energy policies have been praised as bipartisan. His response? “It’s just commonsense.”

Rep. Carter, the Vice Chair of the Conservative Climate Caucus, noted the indivisible link between clean energy and environmental stewardship. With his district covering Georgia’s entire coastline, clean water and preservation is at the top of his constituents’ minds.

CRES is also grateful to our many supporters and partners, especially our Platinum Sponsor, Invenergy, and our Silver Sponsors, ExxonMobil, GE Vernova, Honeywell, Ocean Winds and Nexans. Their support makes our work and events like this possible!

CRES is proud to partner with Members who understand the importance of advancing durable energy policies that support all forms of domestic production—and the critical role Republicans play in these conversations. As we look to the future, CRES will continue to advocate for these efforts to bolster American energy security, encourage economic growth and build a cleaner future for generations to come.
