CRESponsible Leader: Sen. Dave McCormick

This May, we recognize Sen. Dave McCormick (R-Pa.) as our CRESponsible Leader of the Month.

Representing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Sen. McCormick is a proven champion for American energy leadership, grid reliability and economic opportunity for the nation and Pennsylvanians. As Chair of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Energy and a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, he understands what it takes to build a stronger, more resilient energy future that is focused on utilizing an all-of-the-above energy strategy.

Sen. McCormick’s legislative record reflects his commitment to modernizing America’s energy infrastructure while preserving affordability and reliability for families and businesses. In the 119th Congress, he introduced the bipartisan Reconductoring Existing Wires for Infrastructure Reliability and Expansion (REWIRE) Act of 2026 (S. 3947), a commonsense solution to meet America’s rapidly growing energy demand and cut permitting delays. Recognizing that an outdated and unpredictable federal permitting process is one of the biggest obstacles to American energy production, Sen. McCormick also recently introduced the Unlock American Energy and Jobs Act. With more than $1 trillion in critical infrastructure projects currently tied up in federal permitting, this legislation targets four key chokepoints, reforming Clean Water Act certifications, clearing the path for LNG exports, modernizing nuclear licensing and reining in NEPA litigation that has long been used to delay or stop fully-permitted projects.

Sen. McCormick is a true example of commitment to an all-of-the-above energy strategy. His advocacy helped preserve nearly $5 billion in federal funding for two Pennsylvania hydrogen hubs, the Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub (MACH2) and the Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub (ARCH2), which are expected to create more than 40,000 jobs for skilled workers across the Commonwealth. He has also championed several pieces of nuclear legislation in the 119th Congress, including the ACE Nuclear Energy Act of 2026, which strengthens America’s ability to compete for and win nuclear energy projects abroad, and the Nuclear Energy Innovation and Deployment Act, which works to remove regulatory barriers and accelerate next-generation nuclear deployment at home. CRES Forum was also honored to join Sen. McCormick for a visit to Constellation’s Crane Clean Energy Center in Londonderry Township, Pennsylvania, where reliable, clean nuclear baseload power is being brought back to the grid, a powerful example of the public and private sector collaboration needed to secure America’s energy future.

Through his work on grid modernization, hydrogen energy and permitting reform, Sen. McCormick is not only advancing national priorities; he is also creating meaningful economic opportunities for the people of Pennsylvania and helping establish American energy dominance.

We are proud to name Sen. McCormick as our CRESponsible Leader of the Month for May.
