CRESponsible Leader: Rep. Chuck Fleischmann

As the United States continues to expand our all-of-the-above energy approach, leaders like Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-Tenn.) are at the forefront of driving positive change. As the representative for Tennessee’s 3rd congressional district since 2011 – which is home to Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a hydroelectric facility at the Chickamauga Dam and the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant – Rep. Fleischmann knows well the benefits of clean energy.   

In Congress, Rep. Fleischmann serves as the Chair of the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee, where he works to ensure the United States remains at the forefront of energy innovation. As Chairman, Rep. Fleischmann has played a pivotal role in advancing legislation aimed at accelerating the development of new technologies and solutions to address the current energy challenges. Rep. Fleischmann has also been vocal about the need for nuclear energy as a crucial component of America’s clean energy portfolio. He co-chairs the House Advanced Nuclear Caucus and the Fusion Energy Caucus, highlighting the importance of nuclear power in achieving a more reliable, secure and cleaner electric grid.  

Recognizing the importance of permitting reform to accelerate clean energy development, Rep. Fleischmann joined his colleagues to champion the House passage of H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, legislation endorsed by CRES.
