CRESponsible Leader: Rep. Jeff Hurd

This December, we are proud to recognize Rep. Jeff Hurd (R-Colo.) as our CRESponsible Leader of the Month. Representing the Centennial State, Rep. Hurd brings a fresh, all-of-the-above mindset to the energy discussion. A Grand Junction native, he brings a unique and thoughtful perspective to Congress, using his position on the House Natural Resources Committee and House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to advance cost-saving energy policies.

While a freshman member of the House of Representatives, Congressman Hurd has shown a strong commitment to achieving American energy dominance through commonsense conservative energy solutions.

He has been a consistent and dependable voice on energy issues and has backed policies that strengthen our domestic supply chain here at home while safeguarding energy production and grid reliability. Rep. Hurd’s legislative record underscores this focus on reducing energy costs and strengthening America’s energy security.

In the 119th Congress, he has supported bipartisan permitting legislation with Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) and Rep. Jared Golden (D-Maine) called the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act, and the Fix our Forests Act (H.R. 471) to improve forest management and mitigate wildfire risk—initiatives closely aligned with CRES’ mission.

Furthermore, he contributed to the passage of the Promoting Efficient Review for Modern Infrastructure Today (PERMIT) Act, which incorporated his Jurisdictional Determination Backlog Reduction Act to address the thousands of pending Clean Water Section 404 permit applications so that more critical projects can move forward.

Even more impressive. Rep Hurd secured a legislative victory earlier this year with the House passage of the Wetlands Conservation and Access Improvement Act (H.R. 2316). This was his first bill to advance through the chamber, and if enacted into law would extends the timeline for interest earned on the Wildlife Restoration Fund, boosting critical funding for habitat restoration and conservation across America’s wetlands.

For his leadership, commitment to forward-thinking policy, and dedication to an all-of-the-above energy approach through market innovations, we are proud to name Rep. Jeff Hurd as our CRESponsible Leader of the Month for December
