MIDTERM UPDATE: Sixteen CRES-Endorsed Candidates Clinch Primary Victories

To date, sixteen congressional candidates endorsed by Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) have won their respective primary races in the 2022 election cycle. These candidates include: U.S. Senators John Boozman (R-AR), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), and John Thune (R-SD); and U.S. Representatives Don Bacon (R-NE-02), Michael Burgess (R-TX-26), Dan Crenshaw (R-TX-02), John Curtis (R-UT-03), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-02), Dave Joyce (R-OH-02), Frank Lucas (R-OK-03), Nancy Mace (R-SC-01), Kevin McCarthy (R-CA-23), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA-02), Jay Obernolte (R-CA-08), and Bruce Westerman (R-AR-04).

“As we approach the halfway mark of this summer’s primary season, CRES is thrilled to see that these Republican candidates are now one step closer to securing their reelection,” said Heather Reams, President of CRES. “With skyrocketing gas prices at the pump and the threat of blackouts due to our nation’s crumbling grid, it is critical that we elect leaders committed to all-the-above policies that address climate change while reducing consumer costs. CRES-endorsed candidates check those boxes, and we look forward to supporting them as they continue to promote clean energy technologies, decrease global emissions, and domestic energy independence.”

Earlier this year, CRES announced its congressional endorsements for their commitment to strengthening America’s clean energy industry and reducing emissions by supporting free-market policies that unlock greater research, development, and deployment of the next generation of clean energy technologies. Many of these candidates are members of the Conservative Climate Caucus (CCC), and have advocated for key environmental policies to bolster America’s critical mineral supply lines, increase domestic production of natural gas, clean hydrogen, and advanced nuclear energy, and invest in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).
