WASHINGTON—Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) President Heather Reams released the following statement after House Republicans unveiled a plan to address the debt ceiling:
“There is rightly a strong focus by Republicans to address our out-of-control national debt. We acknowledge that this is a negotiating process, and we understand why Republicans are frustrated with the Biden Administration’s unwillingness to engage,” said CRES President Heather Reams. “The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) was passed in an entirely partisan manner that CRES did not support. However, there are certain provisions aimed at energy innovation in the IRA that enjoy bipartisan support from members of Congress and advocacy groups across the country – including CRES. To that end, CRES will continue to advocate for durable solutions to promote American energy innovation, strengthen economic growth, increase energy resilience and affordability, and lower global emissions.”
