“We applaud the President’s ‘Updating Permitting Technology for the 21st Century’ executive order as a timely commonsense directive to move past outdated permitting processes and modernize environmental reviews,” said CRES President Heather Reams. “The government needs to embrace advances in technology that have become commonplace in American business. Instead of cumbersome physical paper processes, digital systems should allow for more instantaneous sharing of information and can benefit project analysis, accountability for agencies, reduce delays and accelerate all energy infrastructure. We believe timely implementation of this executive order will play a crucial role in truly fulfilling the promise of permitting reform and reducing burdens for projects across the country.”
