CRES Congratulates Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Dan Newhouse, Debbie Lesko on Primary Victories

Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) President Heather Reams issued the following statement after the primary victories of Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA-05), Dan Newhouse (R-WA-04) and Debbie Lesko (R-AZ-08).

“CRES was proud to endorse Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Dan Newhouse and Debbie Lesko for their work to promote clean energy innovation. With their Republican primary victories, voters in Washington and Arizona sent a strong message of support for Republican candidates who promote all-the-above policies that reduce emissions, incentivize clean energy development, cut regulatory red tape and hold foreign countries to their climate commitments.”

In May, CRES endorsed Reps. McMorris Rodgers, Newhouse and Lesko. As the Republican Leader of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee, Rep. McMorris Rodgers has advanced legislation to improve America’s competitiveness through research, development and deployment of next-generation energy technologies—including hydropower in Eastern Washington. CRES named Rep. McMorris Rodgers as one of its 2017 Clean Energy Champions.

Rep. Newhouse has demonstrated leadership on energy and federal lands policy as chair of the Congressional Western Caucus. Newhouse is a longtime advocate for commonsense, limited government solutions that grow the economy, strengthen America’s national security and provide affordable energy to homes and businesses across America.

Rep. Lesko has helped develop the Republican energy agenda as a member of the Energy, Conservation and Climate Task Force. She has focused on promoting policies that reduce our dependence on hostile nations such as China and Russia.
