WASHINGTON, June 15, 2022—Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) President Heather Reams issued the following statement after Rep. Nancy Mace’s victory in South Carolina’s U.S. House District 1 Republican primary election:
“CRES was proud to endorse Rep. Nancy Mace this spring because she is a tireless advocate for the citizens of South Carolina and brings a no-nonsense approach to energy and global climate issues. With her Republican primary victory last night, Palmetto State voters sent a message they support Republican candidates who promote all-the-above policies that reduce emissions, incentivize clean energy development, cut regulatory red tape, and hold foreign countries to their climate commitments.”
In May, CRES endorsed Rep. Mace—an early member of the Conservative Climate Caucus in the U.S. House—for her support of commonsense climate legislation, including the bipartisan Trillion Trees Act, the 2021 National Clean Energy Week resolution, and the Growing Climate Solutions Act, which will make carbon markets as accessible as commodity markets for South Carolina’s farmers and foresters when they help remove CO2 from our atmosphere.
