CRES Congratulates Rep. John Curtis on Primary Victory

Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) President Heather Reams issued the following statement after Rep. John Curtis’ victory in Utah’s U.S. House District 3 Republican primary election:

“CRES was proud to endorse Rep. John Curtis due to his leadership on conservative climate policy. From establishing and chairing the Conservative Climate Caucus (CCC)—which boasts more that 70 Republican U.S. House members—to bringing a conservative voice to the international climate debate at 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) last year, Rep. Curtis is a proven leader. With his Republican primary victory last night, Utah voters sent a message that they support Republican candidates who promote all-the-above policies that reduce emissions, incentivize clean energy development, cut regulatory red tape, and hold foreign countries to their climate commitments.”

In April, CRES endorsed Rep. Curtis—chairman of the CCC in the U.S. House—for his support of commonsense climate legislation, including the bipartisan Trillion Trees Act, the 2021 National Clean Energy Week resolution, and the Growing Climate Solutions Act, which will make carbon markets as accessible as commodity markets for Utah’s farmers and foresters when they help remove CO2 from our atmosphere.
