CRES Builds Communications, Policy Teams Ahead of New Congress and White House

CRES Welcomes Director of Communications Mary Collins Howell and Director of Congressional Policy Michael Yancey.

WASHINGTON â€“ Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) today announced the addition of two new team members to the organization’s communications and policy teams. Mary Collins Howell, who previously worked at PLUS Communications and is a Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D. (R-Iowa) alum, has joined CRES as Director of Communications, and Michael Yancey, who most recently served as Director of Policy and Advocacy at CO2EFFICIENT and is a Rep. Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-Texas) alum, has joined CRES as Director of Congressional Policy.

“CRES continues to seek out the best talent to help further our mission of engaging Republican lawmakers on commonsense policies that promote cleaner, more affordable energy for Americans,” said CRES President Heather Reams. “I’m excited to welcome both Mary Collins and Michael to our team, and I’m confident their experience will bring a valuable perspective as we advocate for positive change.”

“I am thrilled to join the talented team at CRES as we work to advance conservative energy policies that better serve Americans in every corner of the country, all while paving the way toward a cleaner future,” said Mary Collins Howell. “CRES has expertly navigated uncharted waters as the leading right-of-center voice on clean energy, and I am excited to help expand its influence even further.”

“I’m excited to join CRES to help develop policies that will support America’s role as the world leader in energy production and technological innovation,” said Michael Yancey. “I look forward to working alongside CRES’s fantastic team and to help create impactful discussions and pragmatic policy solutions to address our nation’s most pressing energy needs.”

Before joining CRES, Howell was a senior director at PLUS Communications where she provided clients with strategic communications counsel and managed several issue advocacy campaigns, including in the clean energy space. Prior to PLUS, Howell spent six years serving in both the House and Senate, most recently for Rep. Miller-Meeks. While with Miller-Meeks, she helped develop a successful communications strategy for the member’s first reelection and bid for the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

Yancey most recently served as Director of Policy and Advocacy at CO2EFFICIENT, a strategic consulting practice focused on federal energy and environment policy, where he worked on issues related to differentiated commodities, emissions monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) and global energy markets. Previously, Yancey advised Rep. Burgess on federal energy and environment policy, where he advanced policies to promote U.S. energy production, accelerate clean energy adoption and improve resilient energy infrastructure.
