CRES Applauds Senate Republicans’ Efforts to Protect Clean Energy Investments

WASHINGTON – Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) applauded Sens. John Curtis (R-Utah), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and Jerry Moran (R-Kans.) for leading a letter, sent to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.), emphasizing the importance of protecting critical clean energy tax credits that are already advancing President Trump’s America First energy dominance agenda.

“We are grateful for Sens. Curtis, Murkowski, Tillis and Moran’s leadership in protecting clean energy tax credits, which play a critical role advancing President Trump’s robust energy agenda. These important incentives provide certainty to American companies that want to invest, innovate and deploy more American homegrown energy,” said CRES President Heather Reams. “Nationwide, these tax credits continue to build upon President Trump’s goal of achieving energy dominance, all while creating new, high-paying jobs reigniting communities across the country. The signatories of this letter are right: Thoughtful and scalpel-like approaches to energy and manufacturing tax incentives demand precise action, not an indiscriminatory, sledgehammer approach.”

“The United States produces some of the cleanest and most efficient energy in the world, and an all-of-the-above approach—including support for traditional and renewable energy sources—has long been a hallmark of our energy strategy,” wrote the lawmakers. “To that end, many American companies have made substantial investments in domestic energy production and infrastructure based on the current energy tax framework. A wholesale repeal, or the termination of certain individual credits, would create uncertainty, jeopardizing capital allocation, long-term project planning, and job creation in the energy sector and across our broader economy.”
