November 8th — Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Director of Federal Affairs Andrew Bird released the following statement on Representative Tom Reed’s (NY-23) victory this evening.
“CRES is proud to congratulate Representative Tom Reed on his victory. Tom Reed was formally endorsed as a 2016 Clean Energy Champion due to his work in support of the POWER Act, and his focus on promoting commonsense, free market solutions that grow the economy, strengthen America’s national security, and provide affordable energy to homes and businesses across America. Our polling has shown that three out of four people are more likely to vote for a candidate who supports a clean energy plan that promotes the diversification and growth of clean energy sources, like wind, solar and hydropower. Tonight, our Clean Energy Champion Tom Reed has proven what we’ve seen time and time again, that advancing clean energy is part of a winning strategy. As CRES looks ahead to the swearing-in of a new Congress and president, we remain firmly committed to ensuring the continued implementation of renewable energy policy such as wind, solar, nuclear, and hydropower, which preserve our climate and the quality of our environment for generations to come.”
In addition to endorsing Representative Reed as a 2016 Clean Energy Champion, CRES spent more than $1.7 million this cycle in support of candidates for the U.S. Senate and House who were focused on advancing renewable energy solutions.
