Dear Leader McConnell, Chairman Hatch, Speaker Ryan, and Chairman Brady:

I write on behalf of Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) to offer our strong support for the Tax Extender Act of 2017.

In particular, CRES supports Title III (Incentives for Energy Production and Conservation) because it will provide credits for qualified solar electric, solar water heating, fuel cell property, small wind energy, geothermal heat pump property expenditures, as well as biofuels and biodiesel, and carbon dioxide sequestration. We also support Title IV (Modification of Energy Incentives) which will modify tax credits for advanced nuclear power facilities.

Together, these provisions represent an important step forward in leveling the playing field for clean energy technologies. Additional clean energy tax credits—and their planned sunset schedules—create parity among energy generation technologies and fair competition for industries that show economic promise and environmental benefit. That is why CRES encourages the inclusion of this legislation in any must-pass spending bills that Congress may consider.

Thank you again for your leadership, and congratulations for the passage of historic tax legislation. Sincerely,

Heather Reams Managing Director
