CRES Joins 32 Organizations to Support Implementation of Republican’s Energy, Climate and Conservation Policy Framework

WASHINGTON, January 30, 2023 Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES), joined by 32 other conservative organizations, sent a letter expressing its support of Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and House Republican leadership as they work to implement the policy framework outlined by the House Energy, Climate and Conservation (ECC) Task Force.

“In the 118th Congress, we look forward to your leadership in streamlining onerous regulations holding back all energy development, encouraging clean energy innovation, bolstering domestic supply chains, and unleashing the power of American energy producers to compete on the world stage against the likes of China and Russia,” wrote the 33 organizations.

“Thanks to Speaker McCarthy’s and Rep. Garret Graves’ leadership on the Energy, Climate, and Conservation Task Force, Republicans—both committee leaders and rank-and-file members alike—developed a strong policy agenda in the 117th Congress,” said CRES President Heather Reams. “With this plan as the blueprint going forward, we are optimistic we’ll be able to make progress on addressing climate change. The formula is simple: Cut energy costs, not energy choices. Export American innovation, not American jobs. Reduce our emissions, not our economy.”

The letter was sent to Speaker McCarthy, House Energy & Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.), House Science, Space and Technology Committee Chairman Frank Lucas (R-Okla.), House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-Pa.) and Rep. Garret Graves (R-La.) and can be viewed here along with the full list of signatories.

The ECC Task Force was formed by then-Leader McCarthy as a piece of House Republican’s Commitment to America. In August 2022, CRES joined 25 organizations in a letter expressing their support of the finalized framework.
