Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing clean, affordable and reliable energy policies rooted in conservative principles. We work to promote solutions that reduce emissions, strengthen America’s energy security and drive economic growth. We lead initiatives that include policy research, public outreach campaigns and partnerships that drive innovation across all-of-the-above energy solutions, including renewables, nuclear, natural gas, carbon capture and other advanced technologies. 

Position Summary:

The Government Relations & Policy Coordinator is an essential member of CRES’s Government Relations and Policy Team. Reporting to the Director of Government Relations, this team member provides organizational and day-to-day administrative support for CRES’s advancement in legislative, advocacy and policy agenda, including developing and advancing clean energy innovation policy and market-based solutions to address climate change. This position demonstrates rock-solid personal integrity, can think creatively, meet timely deadlines and work cross-departmentally. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, proactive and collaborative, with project management experience and the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment. Prior exposure to or experience collaborating with House or Senate offices, congressional committees or related policy institutions is strongly preferred.  

Responsibilities:

Government Relations & Policy Support 

  • Manage systems for tracking lobbying and advocacy activities, congressional contacts, hearings and committee actions. 
  • Support updates to CRES’s inventory of legislative intelligence, including monitoring emerging legislation, policy proposals and member statements. 

Administrative Function 

  • Organize, file and maintain government relations and policy materials including issue briefs, bill summaries, one-pagers, action alerts, internal memos and hearing notes. 
  • Draft agendas and provide notetaking support for weekly meetings and progress updates to CRES leadership. 
  • Provide administrative support to Government Relations & Policy leadership, including calendar management and expense reports. 

Event and Stakeholder Coordination 

  • Provide logistics and planning support across departments for events such as: 
    • Annual Congressional fly-in 
    • National Clean Energy Week 
    • Policymakers’ Symposium 
    • CRES Academy programming 
  • Assist External Relations and Events teams with scheduling and staffing site visits and engagements. 

Perform other duties as assigned 

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to synthesize information and draft concise summaries. 
  • Team-oriented, resourceful and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Experience working in or with a congressional office or congressional committee on Capitol Hill (strongly preferred).  

Education and Experience:

  • Strong project management and workflow coordination experience.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, environmental studies, economics or a related field. 
  • Work experience in legislative, policy, government relations or advocacy settings preferred. 
  • Familiarity with congressional structure and legislative processes is a plus. 

Compensation and Competitive Benefits:

This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $60,000 – $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
