Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions is getting a new lobbyist. The conservative clean energy group said today it’s bringing on Lori Pickford as a senior policy adviser.Pickford previously led the energy practice at the Ferguson Group after nearly two decades lobbying for utilities on energy and tax issues at Morgan Meguire LLC.CRES advocates for energy innovation-style clean energy policies and attempts to persuade Republicans to draw up climate change policy.

The group has been active in pushing polling that shows young Republican voters increasingly worried about climate change and is part of a small ecosystem of similar groups that have helped spur the congressional GOP to drop outright climate change denial.

It spent more than $300,000 lobbying on various clean energy issues in the fourth quarter of last year alone and has brought in a handful of outside firms, according to disclosure forms.

“I am excited to join CRES at a time when Republicans in local, state and federal offices are actively addressing the challenges posed by our changing climate,” Pickford said in a statement.
