This January, we are proud to recognize Rep. Celeste Maloy (R-Utah) as our CRESponsible Leader of the Month. Representing Utah and the American West, Rep. Maloy brings a pragmatic, all-of-the-above approach to energy policy that’s grounded in reliability, affordability and responsible stewardship of our natural resources.
Before coming to Congress, Rep. Maloy built a career rooted in Western land and energy issues, giving her a firsthand understanding of how federal policy impacts local communities, workers and infrastructure. That experience has shaped her thoughtful and solutions-oriented approach as a member of the House Natural Resources Committee, where she works to advance policies to strengthen domestic energy production while protecting public lands.
Though early in her tenure, Rep. Maloy has already demonstrated a strong commitment to commonsense conservative energy solutions to reduce costs for families, bolster America’s energy security and ensure long-term grid reliability.
In the 119th Congress, Rep. Maloy emerged as a leading conservative voice on geothermal and responsible energy development. In 2025, she introduced the “Geothermal Energy Opportunity (GEO) Act” to streamline federal permitting for geothermal projects on existing leases while maintaining environmental protections, helping unlock reliable, baseload energy across the West. Just last month, she introduced the bipartisan “Geothermal Tax Parity Act,” which would level the playing field for geothermal energy by extending long-standing oil and gas tax provisions to this burgeoning industry, encouraging further private-sector investment and innovation.
Rep. Maloy supports policies to reinforce the domestic supply chain, encourage innovation and maintain an energy mix capable of meeting growing demand—from powering homes and businesses to supporting emerging technologies and national security needs.
For her leadership, practical approach to policymaking and dedication to an all-of-the-above energy strategy that works for both communities and the country, we are proud to name Representative Celeste Maloy our CRESponsible Leader of the Month for January.
