CRESponsible Leader Rep. Gabe Evans

This October, we recognize Rep. Gabe Evans (R-Colo.) as our CRESponsible Leader of the month. Representing the Centennial state, Rep. Evans champions an all-of-the-above approach to energy to keep America competitive on the world stage. As a military veteran and former police officer, Evans has seen policy from many different lenses and understands how energy production and availability impact all facets of American life.  

He has distinguished himself through a staunch commitment to balanced policy, economic opportunity and energy innovation, which combined with his proven track record earns him this month’s distinction.  

Rep. Evans also sits on the influential House Energy and Commerce Committee and is one of the first freshman members of Congress to be appointed in 14 years. The Committee is the longest standing legislative committee in the House with broad jurisdiction over energy and environmental policy and interstate and foreign commerce. 

Representative Evans’ support for dynamic energy and environmental policy is affirmed by his strong backing of legislation endorsed by Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES). In the 119th Congress, he supported the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act (H.R. 4776), which streamlines permitting to accelerate deployment of clean, affordable and reliable energy, as well as the Fix Our Forests Act (H.R. 471), both introduced by Chairman Westerman. The Fix Our Forests Act aims to enhance forest management, reduce wildfire risk and promote carbon sequestration. Both bills have received support from CRES, aligning with the mission to advance responsible, clean energy and conservation solutions. clean energy and conservation solutions. 

Evans also joined 20 other Republican Members of Congress in signing a letter to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-Mo.), emphasizing the importance of protecting critical clean energy tax credits during the negotiations of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.  

Additionally, as an Army veteran, Evans has a strong understanding of our nation’s military industrial needs and consistently stresses the U.S. must remain competitive with China in energy development and military production.
