This May, we recognize Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska (R-Neb.) as our CRESponsible Leader of the Month. Representing a heartland state vital to America’s food and energy supply, Rep. Bacon champions an all-of-the-above energy approach that sparks innovation, promotes job creation and safeguards our environment — proving that economic growth and clean energy advancement go hand in hand.
Rep. Bacon’s legislative efforts reflect his dedication to lowering energy costs and enhancing America’s energy security. In the 118th Congress, he supported several key initiatives aimed at bolstering U.S. energy independence and reducing prices for consumers, including the Lower Energy Costs Act (H.R. 1), the Fix Our Forests Act (H.R. 8790), the Strategic Production Response (SPR) Act (H.R. 21), the REINS Act (H.R. 277) and the ADVANCE Act (H.R. 6544 ) to accelerate advanced nuclear technologies. Rep. Bacon also supported the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (H.R. 3684), which made historic investments to modernize broadband, transportation and energy systems across the country.
He has also been a strong advocate for tax incentives that drive clean energy growth. Earlier this year, Rep. Bacon joined with 20 fellow House Republicans in urging House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-Mo.) to preserve critical clean energy tax credits—tools that are generating jobs and fueling economic progress in Nebraska and across the country.
Additionally, Rep. Bacon coauthored an op-ed with Heather Reams, president of Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES), which highlights hydrogen’s potential to secure America’s energy future. They call for greater investment and clearer regulations to help hydrogen create jobs and strengthen U.S. energy leadership, all while cutting emissions.
Rep. Bacon continues to prove that advancing clean, affordable and reliable energy is not only possible, but essential. His commitment to balanced policy, economic opportunity, and energy innovation earns him this month’s distinction. We are proud to name Rep. Don Bacon our CRESponsible Leader of the Month.
