This February, we recognize Rep. Bob Latta (R-Ohio) as our CRESponsible Leader of the Month. Representing the Buckeye state, Rep. Latta champions an all-of-the-above approach that puts energy demand, market certainty and grid reliability at the core of the energy conversation. A strong and steady energy champion, Latta has supported proposals that protect our domestic energy production and ensure grid reliability.
Rep. Latta’s legislative record reflects his commitment to bolstering America’s energy security while preserving affordability. In the 118th Congress, he supported major initiatives to increase U.S. energy independence and global competitiveness, including the Lower Energy Costs Act (H.R. 1), the Strategic Production Response (SPR) Act (H.R. 21) and the bipartisan ADVANCE Act (H.R. 6544) to accelerate advanced nuclear technologies.
In the 119th Congress, Latta has also sponsored bipartisan bills to build on these efforts including the Nuclear Recycling Efficient Fuels Utilizing Expedited Licensing or REFUEL Act (H.R. 3978), the Researching Efficient Federal Improvements for Necessary Energy Refining or REFINER Act (H.R. 3109) and the Electric Supply Chain Act (H.R. 3638)—both of which have passed the House.
Additionally, Rep. Latta understands Ohio is home to a large surge of data centers, and keeping up with its needs is critical to local economies. His commitment to advancing clean, affordable and reliable energy is essential, and his work in the clean energy innovation space earns him this month’s distinction.
