Hailing from Bowling Green, Kentucky, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman, Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.) is January’s CRESponsible Leader.
As a distinguished speaker at National Clean Energy Week (NCEW) 2024, Chairman Guthrie shared the importance of “affordable, reliable and sustainable energy,” that can power the future of artificial intelligence, 6G and advanced manufacturing to ensure American dominance in the technologies of tomorrow. Far from restricting our energy portfolio, Chairman Guthrie highlighted the need to expand America’s baseload power ability to meet new challenges. And as a member of the Conservative Climate Caucus, Chairman Guthrie champions solutions that balance environmental responsibility with economic growth.
Chairman Guthrie’s legislative record further reflects his dedication to supporting and advancing an all-of-the-above energy approach. In the 118th Congress, he supported legislation to strengthen energy security and resilience, including the Lower Energy Costs Act (H.R. 1), the Fix Our Forests Act, the Strategic Production Response (SPR) Act and supporting next generation nuclear energy through the ADVANCE Act. As a former manufacturing business leader, he believes that American energy must affordable and abundant, and that the U.S. can and should lead the globe in clean energy innovation and responsible emissions reduction.
He has also backed key legislation like the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, Rep. Troy Balderson’s (R-Ohio) Congressional Review Act (CRA) to reverse the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Power Plan 2.0 and Rep. John James’ (R-Mich.) CRA to nullify the EPA’s misguided “tailpipe rule,” demonstrating his focus on slashing onerous regulations and supporting energy solutions that work for every American.
As the new leader of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Chairman Guthrie is championing federal permitting reform and supporting America’s energy future. Chairman Guthrie continually demonstrates that all-of-the-above, American-made energy innovation strengthens our economy and lowers energy costs for all Americans.
