CRES Applauds Continued Republican Support for Critical Clean Energy Incentives

WASHINGTON – Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) applauds Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-N.Y.) for leading a letter, sent to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-Mo.), emphasizing the importance of protecting critical clean energy tax credits that are already advancing President Trump’s America First energy dominance agenda.

“Energy tax credits have already resulted in billions of dollars in private investments, spurring economic development and creating new, high-paying jobs in communities across the country,” said CRES President Heather Reams. “We firmly agree with the signatories that fine-tuning energy or manufacturing tax incentives calls for a precise, thoughtful and scalpel-like approach rather than broad cuts. Maintaining these tax credits will help accelerate energy dominance, keeping energy prices in check for American families while providing the certainty American companies seek to invest, innovate, and deploy more American homegrown energy. We are grateful for Rep. Garbarino’s continued leadership on this critical issue and thank each of the members who have joined his efforts.”

“Countless American companies are utilizing sector-wide energy tax credits – many of which have enjoyed broad support in Congress – to make major investments in domestic energy production and infrastructure for traditional and renewable energy sources alike,” wrote the lawmakers. “As our conference works to make energy prices more affordable, tax reforms that would raise energy costs for hardworking Americans would be contrary to this goal.”

Rep. Garbarino was joined in signing the letter by Reps. Jen Kiggans (R-Va.), Juan Ciscomani (R-Ariz.), Gabe Evans (R-Colo.), David Valadao (R-Calif.), Mark Amodei (R-Nev.), Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.),  Young Kim (R-Calif.), Don Bacon (R-Neb.), Vince Fong (R-Calif.), Jeff Hurd (R-Colo.), Thomas Kean (R-N.J.), Nick LaLota (R-N.Y.), John James (R-Mich.), Ryan Mackenzie (R-Penn.), Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (R-Penn.), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa), Buddy Carter (R-Ga.), Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.), Erin Houchin (R-Ind.) and David Joyce (R-Ohio).
