CRES Congratulates Ryan Zinke on His Nomination to Service as Interior Secretary

Energy, Innovation & Environmental Working Group Member Was Ardent Champion of Public Lands in U.S. House

December 15 — Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Director of Federal Affairs Andrew Bird released the following statement on the announcement that Rep. Ryan Zinke has been nominated to serve as the United States’ next Interior Secretary.

“Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions congratulates Congressman Ryan Zinke on his nomination to serve as the next Secretary of the Interior Department. As U.S. Representative for Montana and a member of the House Energy, Innovation and Environmental Working Group, Congressman Zinke proudly supported our public lands and national parks, voted to reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and promoted the research and development of renewable energy technology to spur energy production and job creation across America. CRES looks forward to working with Congressman Zinke as he ushers in a new era of leadership at the helm of a Department with tremendous authority over preserving America’s natural treasures.”

The House Energy, Innovation and Environmental Working Group was formed in March 2016 by a group of Republican members who understand the role that the free market and innovation play in developing new technologies to create jobs and protect the quality of our air and water.

Ryan Zinke is the latest in a string of high-profile nominees with clean energy records selected for important roles in the incoming Trump Administration. Former Governor Nikki Haley, a strong supporter of solar energy development and expansion in South Carolina, has been nominated to serve as Ambassador to the United Nations; Governor Terry Branstad (IA), a strong supporter of wind energy in Iowa, has been nominated to serve as Ambassador to China; and Former Governor Rick Perry, an active supporter of wind energy in Texas, has been nominated to lead the Department of Energy.

Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization advocating for comprehensive and responsible solutions to our nation’s energy issues.
