About Our Organization:
Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) is a non-profit organization founded in 2013 to engage Republican policymakers and the public about responsible, conservative solutions to address our nation’s energy, economic, and environmental security while increasing America’s competitive edge. This work includes building out robust political and advocacy operations to support Republican clean energy champions in the U.S. House and Senate. In addition to working with members of Congress and legislative staffs to discuss policy ideas, the CRES team members also collaborate with industry representatives and subject matter experts in their mission to bring Americans together to solve our most pressing issues. CRES policy goals include:
- Reducing global emissions and growing the U.S. economy.
- Enacting policy that builds off historically successful approaches to affordable clean energy.
- Affordably reducing domestic emissions in a manner that can be leveraged globally.
Scope of Work:
CRES is growing! Reporting to the Vice President of Policy & Research, the Policy Analyst supports the organization’s center-right policy agenda by serving as a tactical researcher and analyst in areas of specialization such as energy policy, sector emissions and reliability, climate change mitigation, and incentives for innovative technologies. As a pivotal Policy Team member, the Policy Analyst works collaboratively with External Affairs, Government Relations, and Communications when contributing to other CRES policy priorities, including industrial emissions, critical resources development, and energy security.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies and interprets policy-related sources and data to inform CRES’ mission-critical activities
- Conducts qualitative and quantitative research to advance CRES’ government- and policy-adjacent agendas
- Conducts policy research and analysis to author issue briefs, white papers, legislative proposals, and blogs to engage policymakers, elected federal and state officials, like-minded organizations, and corporate partners
- Manages relationships with subject-matter experts and research personnel in energy and climate
- Contributes to CRES’ efforts in educating policymakers through convenings
- Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
Required:
- A degree in economics, public policy, environmental science, engineering, or a related field
- 2-4 years of professional experience as a researcher, economist, or policy analyst
- Experience in drafting policy-related publications, e.g., white papers, blogs, and issue briefs alike
- Experience in performing analytical studies or research
Preferred:
- Experience as a Policy Analyst for a think-tank or an advocacy organization
- Experience working collaboratively with External Affairs, Government Relations, or Communications personnel
- Experience working on statistical analysis packages
- Master’s degree in economics, public policy, environmental science, engineering, or a related field
